We bring together strategy, communications, engagement and on-the-ground delivery to connect the technical side of transport projects with the people who will use, experience and live alongside them.
That might mean understanding how people want to move before a project begins, involving communities as designs develop, delivering public consultation, keeping people informed through construction, or creating programmes that help more people use new transport options once they are in place.
We can support a project at a particular point, or work alongside project teams across the full journey from early thinking through to delivery and activation.

Every community is different. We take time to understand the local context, the people a project needs to reach and the relationships that will be critical to its success.
That means getting out into communities, listening before jumping to solutions and working with local organisations and partners who understand their places better than anyone.

Crank understands how the technical, organisational and community parts of a transport project fit together. We work across councils, project teams and communities to translate between them, spot gaps and keep decisions, communications and engagement aligned as a project develops.

Our team spends a lot of time moving around Tāmaki Makaurau by bike, public transport and on foot. Experiencing the places where we work in the ways we’re seeking to enable gives us a firsthand understanding of the barriers, opportunities and street-level details that can be difficult to see on a map or in a meeting room – and makes for better conversations with the people who use those spaces every day.

Good engagement isn’t a one-off event. We look for opportunities to build trust and relationships early, maintain them as projects evolve, and connect project teams with local people and organisations who can continue to play a role through design, delivery and beyond.
Crank brings together a range of services and specialist expertise that can support transport projects from early planning through to delivery. How those services are used changes as a project develops, depending on what the project and community need at each stage.

Understand how people travel, what matters to them and what gets in the way of choosing different transport options.
Bring local knowledge and perspectives into the design process while working within clearly set strategic, technical and budgetary parameters.
Help communities understand a proposal, know what they can influence and provide feedback for project teams and decision makers.
Keep communities informed, manage disruption and maintain relationships while change is happening on the ground.
Create well-timed programmes and experiences that build confidence, excitement and uptake before, during and after new transport infrastructure is delivered.
